SURFACE SCIENCE & COATING ENGINEER

ELKEME was founded in 1999 to support the Hellenic Metallurgical Industry. Through a variety of state-of-the-art laboratories, we focus on industrial research and technological development/analysis in four major metal sectors (Aluminum, Copper, Steel and Zinc). We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented scientist / engineer to join the Surface Science and Coatings department at the Oinofyta facilities. The ideal candidate will contribute to research projects, perform complex laboratory analyses, and support our mission of enhancing industrial solutions with emphasis on the characterization and evaluation of the surface.

Responsibilities

• Perform analyses on metal materials of divergent surface condition and geometries (bare metal, coated)
• Conduct laboratory tests using advanced equipment to support research and development projects
• Collaborate with senior chemical engineers and chemists on experiments aimed at improving laboratory performance
• Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated, and operating efficiently
• Perform routine laboratory tests of samples, with and without the use of instrumentation following official methods and laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols
• Always follow safe laboratory practices and maintain a safe working environment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field
• Knowledge of techniques such as Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermal analysis (DSC, TGA) and microscopy
• Very good knowledge of English Language
• Experience in research will be appreciated
