We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Simulation Engineer / Research Scientist to join our team at the Oinofyta facilities. The ideal candidate will contribute to the development and application of advanced finite element and numerical models for structural, thermo-mechanical and manufacturing processes, supporting industrial problem-solving and process optimization. The role focuses on advanced simulation, predictive modeling, and industrial research projects. The successful candidate will combine strong analytical and programming skills to develop innovative engineering solutions.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop finite element models for structural, thermo-mechanical, and manufacturing processes.
  • Simulate metal forming, extrusion, rolling, fracture, fatigue, crashworthiness, and material behavior.
  • Develop predictive models and digital twins for process optimization and industrial troubleshooting.
  • Participate in industrial and research projects with internal and external partners.
  • Participate in proposal writing, project execution, and technology development activities.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong background in solid mechanics, materials behavior, numerical methods, and finite element analysis.
  • Proven experience with simulation software such as ANSYS Mechanical, Abaqus, LS-DYNA, or equivalent.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, Fortran, or equivalent.
  • Ability to independently develop, validate, and deploy numerical models in industrial environments.
  • Independent thinking.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.

Skills

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas will be considered favorably:

  • Reduced-order modeling (ROM), surrogate modeling, or model-order reduction techniques.
  • Optimization methods, digital twin development, or simulation-driven design approaches.
  • Machine learning, AI, or advanced data analytics applied to engineering problems.
  • High-performance computing (HPC) environments.
  • Multidisciplinary industrial or research project collaboration.
